After September 11, 2001, the DC Sniper events, and Hurricane Katrina, a Washington, DC-area campaign to reach and educate the general public on the importance of emergency preparedness was put to action. Radial Outdoor Media, a truly “mobile” marketing company, asked to develop messaging and design graphics for commuter vehicles with the goal of persuading people to visit MakeAPlan.org for complete information. The drivers also carried printed, pop-up info cards to distribute when they were parked. By utilizing the vehicles of those who were already driving long, daily commutes in various strategic areas around the Capital Beltway, we were able to reach a more varied audience.
